About an hour northwest in Daviess County is Amish Country, where you can enjoy shopping, eating a family-style Amish dinner, or interacting with the Amish community. The annual PaoliFest celebrates music, art, and community with performances, jam sessions, and collaborative art-making. Visit the historic Lindley House, listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Imbibe at wineries on the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail. Owensboro

Owensboro, Kentucky, sits in the crook of the bend of the Ohio River, which led 18th-century settlers to originally call it “Yellowbanks,” for the yellow sands located along the river.
