Ithaca

Located in south-central New York on the south end of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes Region, Ithaca is perhaps most recognized as the home of the world-renowned Cornell University. Warm summers provide plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, boating, fishing and other outdoor sports. Ithaca gets an average of 63 inches of snow per year, providing an opportunity for downhill skiing, sledding and snowboarding, and many people still visit the beautiful waterfalls even in the winter.
 
Top Ithaca attractions include Cornell University, Cornell Botanical Gardens, Cayuga Lake, Ithaca Falls Natural Area, Johnson Museum of Art, as well as several local and state parks and over 100 waterfalls. The region is also known for its many wineries, pubs, breweries and restaurants. The Ithaca Ale House serves up creative and decadent burgers. The Ithaca City School District system features 12 schools, and is consistently recognized as a top public school district for music education. Ithaca City School District boasts an 88 percent matriculation rate among graduating seniors. Students have the opportunity in high school to take advancement placement classes to prepare for college.

Ithaca offers a few planned housing subdivisions, but most homes include a mix of 19th to early 20th century Victorian, Greek Revival, Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Tudor. The downtown area boasts a robust mix of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs.
