Muncie Magic. You’ll hear this from long-term residents to new arrivals - there’s just something special about Muncie, Indiana. We certainly felt this when we were in town.

Here’s what we’re loving about Muncie:

 - Mike Martin - a musician and community-minded guy, started the Common Market after playing in one just like it in Charlotte, NC (he was told to set up in front of the milk because most people aren't shopping for that at night lol). He knew a space like this could work in Muncie, and it does. It’s a bodega, an arts collective, a food bank, a hang out spot, and community idea incubator with a farm down the block. If you’re looking for interesting folks, some GREAT nitro coffee, flatbread pizza - look no further than the Common Market.

 - This school has so much to offer its students and the residents of Muncie. Sports, theater, art, recreation, invited lectures, and more. As part of Muncie’s package, you’ll get access to the rec center!

 to cute new shops and bakeries, downtown Muncie is walkable, accessible, and fun. Check out Sea Salt and Cinnamon. They send their stuff all over Indiana (I like to pick up their salads at a local coffee shop in Indy!), but their home base is in downtown Muncie!

 The Innovation Connector in downtown Muncie hosts co-working space for remote workers and entrepreneurs while providing the resources, training, and support they need to innovate and grow. State-of-the-art facilities, programming and experienced staff make it a go-to destination for startups and established companies alike.

Access to the Ball State University library:

 Library card level up! MakeMyMovers will be equipped with access to resources and events at Bracken Library, Ball State’s main campus library.

The Human Library is a unique event in which humans are "books" and readers are people who check out a book for a conversation. Started in Denmark, we are proud to have the most active Human Library "Depot" in the US! 

"Books" are people considered to be marginalized by mainstream society and their titles include "Buddhist", "Survivor of Abuse", "Survivor of Sex Trafficking", "Transgender", "Raised in Foster Care", Child of Deaf Adults" and so much more. There are "Reading Garden" events as well as corporate events, and events at social organizations and community events. 

The Human Library tagline is "Unjudge Someone" and that is the intention - to have a conversation with someone you may not otherwise meet or have the opportunity to get to know and to learn about the commonalities we all share as humans.

Human Library

The Muncie Pride event is happening on Saturday, September 2nd and it's set to be a great event! Vendors, music, food trucks, and lots of people all coming together to learn, celebrate, and be authentically free and happy! 

And at the Pride event, you can "read" a "book" at the Human Library where our slogan is "unjudge someone". In the Human Library, "books" are people who share their stories with readers by way of a short conversation. Muncie has many different "books", but at the Muncie Pride event, most of the books will be from the LGBTQ Community. Come out and enjoy the event, and yeah, "unjudge someome" at the Human Library!
