“We love New Castle, we want to continue to contribute and spread its goodness and love to everybody.”
If you’re from Indiana, you may know Henry County as the place “Where Basketball Lives,” but during our multiple visits to the area our team learned that there is so much more to Henry County than Hoosiers and hardwoods.
Henry County is a place where locals grow their own produce and share it with their neighbors. A community where libraries provide a place to work and a gathering spot for locals. A home with great schools offering innovative programming (Shenandoah High School has an esports team!).
Here are a few of the other things we learned about Henry County:
They LOVE sports (not just basketball, although they love that, too), which is why a free gym membership and youth sports registration are part of the incentive package. You’ll always find the community out supporting whatever sport is in season. The Mayor of New Castle goes to every home football game and lights off fireworks when the team scores a touchdown. C’mon. It doesn’t get much better than that!
The apple cider donuts at Jacob’s Family Orchard are so good, we stopped by TWICE.
There’s plenty of space and opportunity to play. There are skate parks, disc golf courses, splash pads, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. Perhaps “play” means a little something different to you. In that case, there are state parks, art associations, concerts, festivals, fairs, wineries, breweries, and more.
Henry County is a community where you can work and play alongside locals who care about you. And who knows? They might welcome you with a fireworks display.
