West Memphis Increases Public Safety Funding to Historic Levels

The West Memphis Police Department and Mayor Marco McClendon have allocated more funding for public safety in the 2025 budget than at any other time in the city’s history. This unprecedented investment is aimed at targeting major offenders involved in drug and gun-related crimes, which contribute to violent activity in the community.

"We must take responsibility for the challenges facing our communities and take a bold stand against crime—no matter who commits it," said Mayor McClendon.

Over the past five years, West Memphis has seen a significant decrease in crime, thanks to the adoption of cutting-edge crime-fighting technology. The city remains committed to maintaining this progress through proactive community initiatives, particularly those focused on at-risk youth.

"We are dedicated to keeping this momentum going by strengthening programs that intervene early, helping steer troubled youth away from criminal activity. Our top priority is ensuring safer streets for our residents, businesses, and visitors, and we will continue working tirelessly to uphold that commitment," said West Memphis Police Chief Robin Campbell.

Kick off the holiday spirit with the West Memphis Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday, November 26th, at Worthington Park starting at 6 PM. This family-friendly event includes pictures with Santa, a petting zoo, and much more.

West Memphis Christmas Parade

The following week, don’t miss the West Memphis Chamber’s Annual Christmas Parade on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 7 PM. The parade begins near West Memphis High School and concludes at West Memphis Christian School, with plenty of great viewing spots along Broadway and Missouri Streets. Be sure to stop by First United Methodist Church for a cup of hot chocolate to keep you warm!

Santa’s Annual Fly-In
