On the corner of 3rd Street and Voorhees sits a local glass company, completely unknown to the nation. That is, until it won Coca-Cola's national bottle design competition. On November 16, 1915, Chapman Root, founder of the Root Glass Company, patented his contoured glass bottle design.

Sitting on the Wabash River, Terre Haute has an outstanding university, GREAT coffee, and super neighbors, like Mark and Tiffany Baker and Jennifer Mullen.
Mark and Tiffany moved back to Terre Haute with their three girls and are working hard to make their community better each day. They’re renovating old homes and starting new community events like the Haute Hops and Vines Festival. Jennifer teaches communication at ISU and started a volunteer group called the Society of Trash Baggers, whose goal is “Cleaning up the Haute....one bag at a time.”
Here’s a couple other reasons we’re loving Terre Haute:
12 Points: This neighborhood has seen some HISTORY. John Dillinger is rumored to have been spotted in the area, I mean, there was a bank here. But 12 Points is most exciting for what it’s becoming: a place to live (in newly renovated apartments), shop (this spice company is FIRE and I highly recommend the Everyday Seasoning Salt), and celebrate (First Fridays anyone?!)
The Wellness Box - LT Thompson, who serves as the Black Business Alliance Coordinator for the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, owns this local gym. LT moved to Terre Haute to play football at Indiana State University and chose to stay!
The Mill - Tim and Kelly Drake had a dream of bringing live music to the Wabash Valley and they’ve done just that. Check out their summer lineup!
