What is life like in Rooks County?

It is Quiet Neighborhoods where kids can play outside, people can go for evening walks, or neighbors can visit from the front porch. Citizens take pride in the fact that the pace of life allows them to enjoy more time at home and less time in their cars.

It is Good Schools with low teacher-student ratios that allows for individual attention. Schools that allow students to excel in a safe, productive environment. In addition, the schools offer extra-curricular activities such as athletics, music, and drama to name a few.

It is Downtown Shopping areas that provide close parking, friendly help, and service that you can only get in a small town. The city of Hays is only a short drive from our area and features a variety of retail opportunities.

It is Health Care Facilities that offer the latest in diagnostic services and doctors that provide the personal attention that is lacking in many larger cities. The Rooks County Health Center is a state-of-the-art facility with 3 full-time providers, and other part-time providers, RCH is able to offer a 6 day a week walk-in clinic called Doctors Without Delay.

It is Outdoor Recreation. Rooks County is home to Webster Reservoir and State Park, Rooks County State Fishing Lake, and Plainville Township Lake. All allow for great outdoor experiences like fishing, boating, hiking, and more. Plainville and Stockton both have new water parks for the kids in summer. The Rooks County Golf Course is a nine-hole grass green course open year-round.

It is Entertainment! Whether you are enjoying the local county fair, attending school sporting events, visiting one of the area lakes, or just spending an afternoon in the park, we have plenty to see and do.

What is MakeMyMove?

MakeMyMove is a marketplace product that connects remote workers and other work-from-anywhere talent with communities that are attracting new residents. We help workers find the right place, and we help communities build and promote programming to attract those workers.

What is a remote worker?

Remote workers are employed full-time and typically do their jobs from a computer. They can work from their house, an office, a co-working space, coffee shop, maybe sometimes from the bleachers at their kids' swim meet. Remote workers who have moved through our programs have titles like Customer Service Agent, Software Engineer, Insurance Advisor, and more. Examples of roles that aren't considered remote include Delivery Driver, Mechanic, and Cashier.

Why are communities offering incentive programs?

Empowered by newfound remote work, tens of millions of people (in the U.S. alone) are now free to move wherever they choose. This poses an opportunity for cities and towns to sell themselves, and recruit new residents. New residents mean growth, economically and culturally. Leaders are recognizing this opportunity, and assembling relocation programs that make the moves a little easier, and integrate new residents into the community.
