I didn't expect much when I interviewed a few months ago. I grew up in a small town in Ohio and expected the same scarcity of local business and landscapes. To my surprise, Wabash is crammed with culture, is more green and varied than I could have ever expected for Indiana, and is experiencing a lot of renovation and growth.
Maybe rash, but I set about looking for a house asap, given rentals were in high demand. There are a lot of beautiful properties out there but beware flippers dressing up old homes without addressing foundation issues and the proximity of many properties to railway lines. Wabash gets 20 or so trains a day!
I've loved the walkability, how visible the courthouse is from many angles of the city, and how bountiful the wildlife is. I also missed being in a smallish town and running into people often.
