Eau Claire's Rich History

Eau Claire’s identity is built on a gritty 1800s logging legacy that you can still experience today through its historic State Street mansions and the Paul Bunyan Museum. Many popular landmarks hide a surprising industrial past, like Phoenix Park and Banbury Place, once home to major steel and tire factories. You can literally trace the paths of history by biking to old sawmill sites or following the historic Yellowstone Trail through the heart of the city. From the glacial valleys just north of town to the booth at Sammy’s Pizza where rock legends once ate, the city’s heritage is woven into every corner!
