Buskirk-Chumley Theater

The historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater, affectionately known by locals as the "BCT," is the beating cultural heart of downtown Bloomington. Originally built in 1922 as a silent movie house, this beautifully restored 600-seat venue now serves as the community's premier performing arts center.

Locals love it because of its incredibly diverse, year round lineup, which hosts everything from intimate concerts by national touring musicians and stand up comedians to locally produced plays and independent film screenings. Its iconic, glowing marquee not only lights up Kirkwood Avenue but also serves as a beloved symbol of the city's deep commitment to preserving its local arts and history.
