West Memphis Increases Public Safety Funding to Historic Levels
The West Memphis Police Department and Mayor Marco McClendon have allocated more funding for public safety in the 2025 budget than at any other time in the city’s history. This unprecedented investment is aimed at targeting major offenders involved in drug and gun-related crimes, which contribute to violent activity in the community.
"We must take responsibility for the challenges facing our communities and take a bold stand against crime—no matter who commits it," said Mayor McClendon.
Crime Reduction Through Technology and Community Engagement
Over the past five years, West Memphis has seen a significant decrease in crime, thanks to the adoption of cutting-edge crime-fighting technology. The city remains committed to maintaining this progress through proactive community initiatives, particularly those focused on at-risk youth.
"We are dedicated to keeping this momentum going by strengthening programs that intervene early, helping steer troubled youth away from criminal activity.
