About Pasadena

Pasadena, Texas, is known for its friendly and welcoming residents, as well as the Strawberry Capital of the South. The Pasadena Strawberry Festival, held each year in May, draws thousands of visitors to the city. The weather is hot in the summer months and moderate during the winter, making Pasadena a great place to enjoy outdoor activities at the Armand Bayou Nature Center or summer fun in the sun at the Strawberry Park pool. Sports lovers can catch Friday Night Lights high school football games at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Pro sports fans only have a short drive to Houston for MLB baseball, NFL football and NBA basketball. Top attractions include the Pasadena Historical Museum, Pasadena Little Theater and Timeout #3 Sports bar. Houston William P. Hobby Airport, an international airport, is located just eight miles from the center of Pasadena.

FUN FACT

Pasadena, Texas, was named after Pasadena, California, but this Houston suburb has forged its own unique identity as a true Texas cowboy city. Remember the mechanical bull scenes in the 1980 movie, “Urban Cowboy,” with John Travolta and Debra Winger? Those were filmed at the original Gilley’s nightclub in Pasadena. Although the bar no longer remains, the legacy lives on.
