The City of Mattoon owns two beautiful lakes, Lake Paradise and Lake Mattoon, both of which are located in the southwest corner of Coles County. Mattoon Sports Complex:
Mattoon, IL leaders have announced the proposed development of a new $60M+ indoor/outdoor sports complex that is to be built on ninety-five acres, at a prime location in the community intersected by I-57 South. The facility is expected to be anchored by additional hotels, retail and restaurants, and will be integrated into the new Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail; which connects the towns of Mattoon, IL and Charleston, IL via a nature-filled 12-mile bike path.
