About Bloomfield

Located southeast of Terre Haute in the Bloomington metropolitan area, Bloomfield bursts with small-town charm and southern hospitality. Bloomfield Town Park features a turn-of-the-century bandstand, picnic facilities, basketball courts, and playground equipment. Watch a live performance at Shawnee Summer Theatre, Indiana’s longest continuously running summer playhouse. Walk across the Richland-Plummer Creek Covered Bridge, built in 1883 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Called one of the best small-town festivals in southern Indiana, check out Bloomfield’s annual Apple Festival and Parade. Held the first weekend in October, festival activities include carnival rides, food and craft booths, live music, a wiffle-ball tournament, pedal-tractor pulls, a pet show, a quilt auction, art exhibits, and corn hole tournaments. Take a train ride over Richland Creek and enjoy picturesque views as you cross Tulip Trestle Viaduct Train Bridge, constructed in the 20th century by the Indiana Southern Railway. The city of Bloomfield is home to the world's largest Hi-Lift Jack, located in front of the Hi-Lift Jack Company/Bloomfield Manufacturing Company on Spring Street. The cast-iron replica jack commemorates the company's 100th anniversary, and stands 20 feet tall and weighs 2,980 pounds.
