It’s a rainy day in Frankfort but it’s still a beautiful place to be! Frankfort is an arts town; in fact, it’s the Public Art Capital of Kentucky. You’ll find sculptures and murals throughout and even an app to learn about them! Find the Frankfort App in your favorite App Store. Frankfort shares a deep, authentic story as an arts town. Paul Sawyier (March 23, 1865 – November 5, 1917), one of Kentucky's most renowned artists, was an American impressionist painter of great renown. He painted this view of town in 1917. I stood on that very corner in the rain today in front of the Bank that still stands at the corner of Ann and Main Streets. The watercolor painting features a row of buildings on the left side, a building on the right, several figures holding umbrellas, as well as several horses with carts or buggies. The original is in the Kentucky Historical Society Collection in Frankfort.
