Public Art and the Seward Johnson Statues

Walking through Carmel's Arts & Design District, you will encounter dozens of hyper realistic, life sized bronze sculptures of people doing everyday things—a policeman directing traffic, a man reading a newspaper. Created by artist J. Seward Johnson, these sculptures are part of a massive, deliberate municipal investment in making art accessible and interactive on a daily basis.
