Since 1981, every Chevrolet Corvette sold worldwide has rolled off one assembly line: the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant. The National Corvette Museum, which opened in 1994 beside the plant, is both a serious automotive archive and a notable cultural destination that draws roughly 200,000 visitors a year. The museum's R8C Delivery Experience lets buyers take delivery of a new Corvette on-site.
In 2014, a sinkhole famously opened beneath the museum floor and swallowed eight cars — the now-restored "Sinkhole Attraction" has become part of the permanent collection. For residents, the plant means a real presence of skilled manufacturing jobs and an engineering community that feeds into the local economy and professional network.
