Fruehauf

Fruehauf invented the semi-trailer. Literally — August Fruehauf built the first one, and by the 1970s and 80s the company held 80% of the trailer market. After decades of dormancy following a bankruptcy, the name has been brought back to life, and Bowling Green is home to its first U.S. manufacturing plant since 1997. Opened in 2022, the 125,000 sq. ft. facility assembles dry van trailers and is in active growth mode, targeting 50 new hires in the next year. What they're hiring for: Aluminum Welders are in high demand and genuinely hard to find. Truck Drivers and hourly production roles round out the near-term hiring plan, with 30–50 total hires targeted in the next 6–12 months. Anyone with trailer industry experience in operations, production, or sales is worth a conversation even outside of an active posting. Good to know: Most of Fruehauf's staff comes from out of state — the trailer industry simply demands that kind of specialized experience, and they built this location from the ground up with people brought in from across the country.
