from Chicago to the Kentucky mountains

My fiance and I moved from Illinois to Somerset KY. I am born and raised a Chicagoan while he was born in Indiana and It might just be the best decision I'll ever make! 💖 Here's what we have experienced thus far in the month that we have been here

1. Breathtaking Views: Stunning sunrises and sunsets every day! 🌄

2. Fresh Air: We enjoy the cleaner, fresher air that revitalizes your spirit! 🍃

3. Nature at Your Doorstep: Access to hiking, biking, and outdoor adventures right outside your home! 🥾 The water!! Lake Cumberland and all the things to do at the State parks!

4. Peace and Quiet: Say goodbye to the noise and chaos of city life; enjoy the tranquility of nature! 🌳

5. Community Vibes: Experience a tight-knit community where neighbors become friends! 🤗 Even shopping locally at the local farms .... talk about fresh produce, veggies and meat!! Good for out budget and our tummies!!!

6. Lower Cost of Living: Often, country living means more affordable housing and everyday expenses! 💰No crazy grocery taxes!! love love it!!!

7. Slower Pace: Embrace a more relaxed lifestyle that allows you to savor each moment! ☀️ And less likely to have a heart attack because it so much less stressful here!!

Moving to the mountains can open up a world of new experiences and happiness! 🌈✨ If you're considering the leap, take it. It's so worth it!!

6 Month Update Spoiler Keeps Getting Better

After spending 6 months in our new home we have grown to love it more and more each day. We are very happy with our decision to move from Florida to our new home in Kentucky as Tennessee was not it for us. In Florida my family would go to Gasparilla every year along with the Florida State fair. We were sad to see this tradition disappear when we moved however we found an amazing replacement here in Kentucky called Hill Billy Days that combined both of the events into 3 fun filled days. We have also added some new locations into our routine one of which is our new favorite coffee spot called Probation Coffee. We were use to going to Starbucks everyday in Florida but after my first cup of coffee from Probation I knew I found a way better spot. Another of our favorites is 123 which we can get great Japanese food and sushi without having to drive far. Lastly, we have made more of an effort to attend our extension centers free classes and picked up some new hobbies such as bread making, hydroponics and growing our own mushrooms. These extension centers are the coolest thing I have ever been apart of as we did not have that in Florida and when you take a class usually they give you free items on the subject you are learning about. For anyone wanting to learn new skills or even have general questions the workers at the extension centers are happy to help and teach. Overall for anyone considering moving to eastern Kentucky I would recommend it as a great place to live and raise a family.
