Red River Museum sits in Clay City, open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5, about a 20 minute drive on the Mountain Parkway. Exhibits highlight the stories of the area, and during the Homecoming and Old Engine Show the grounds fill with food, music, and live demonstrations.

At 30 L&E Railroad Place in Slade, Powell County Tourism is the everyday stop for Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge plans. It’s free, open Monday through Saturday 9 to 5 and Sunday 9 to 3, including Memorial Day, and it’s where maps and permits get picked up before hikes and climbs.
