Double Arch rises from a rugged forest trail in Red River Gorge. Twin spans set up a 300 degree panorama from the top. The hike hums with birds and wind, and weekends see more hikers and climbers, plus families with older kids and experienced students.
We’re often starting at the Auxier Ridge and Double Arch lot at the end of Tunnel Ridge Road, with free parking and a stretch of gravel. Routes run five to six miles and climb around a thousand feet. A short steep scramble on worn rock steps suits those feeling ready.
