Hi EKY community! Hoping to meet and get to know some local folks. I am lucky to have found this exciting offer, but I really don't know where to start. The program is broad with many counties and there seems to be more than a few interesting places. Any advice for a newbie is appreciated. Should I start by spending some time in Pikeville or Ashland or Prestonsburg? I have romanticized the idea of a tight knit rural community, but am trying to be practical. Medical care gets more important as I get older so that's something to consider. I'm okay to sacrifice some walkability of a downtown area although that may be a bit of an adjustment from my current situation. Probably need to be relatively close to transportation such as an airport or train (Amtrack?) to visit family back home. (NE). As an ADV rider, I'd like to be close to the natural scenic beauty, BDR routes and the KAT. Sounds like those qualities are almost everywhere in eastern Kentucky. Lastly I need reliable/fast internet speeds for work from home purposes. Once I pinpoint the right area, I may also need some advice on how to integrate with the locals and observe authentic EKY traditions. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for your help!
